It is not often that businesses can access vital services needed for enterprise success in one place. But, an India-based technology enhancement and network security company, TechnoPilot, is making it easier for new and existing enterprises to get a flying start with its unique diversified services. “All along my 20 years of military service in aviation, I realized that society needs a larger social fabric to see the larger picture towards alleviating pain and poverty in humanity. Keeping this in mind, TechnoPilot® originated in 2013 with an aim to provide a large umbrella under which one can provide services of various nature from Network Security and Business Success Coaching to Healing in organizations and for individuals,” says the Commander and Chief and the brainchild behind this venture, Dr RK Thomas.
Having incepted the brand in 2013, TechnoPilot began with primarily laying emphasis upon providing top-notch network security to small businesses in India and the Gulf region. The incessant efforts of the team to come out with flying colours is really commendable, as they work 24X7 to herald the technology of the future into present-day workable solutions to ensure the best possible cybersecurity services at a small budget.

They sow the seeds of growth into the clients business that ‘exceptional leaders are manufacturers of success. Those who have experienced their services and mode of treatment, share their experience with others and thus approach them. That is how people get connected with them through networking. ”Besides, we always provide 24X7 accessibility for customer service and keep up and maintain excellent support and service. It is ingrained in us to treat each customer with respect and take appropriate action,” exclaims Thomas. Learnings from failures
Taking a look at the failures and tough times of others is one of the best ways to get over your own shortcomings. It’s important to see that failure is a part of the process, and that to be successful you absolutely must learn to make it a tool as opposed to the roadblock. Failure hurts, and that may never change, but it’s how you learn to get better.
The primary learning post the acceptance of mistake is to understand the point that, companies must continually evolve to stay relevant, innovative, and competitive. Choosing the right approach to adaptation and growth is difficult.
One good reason for the growth is to become more competitive. Maybe the core business is under threat or the firm has reached the limits of its natural market so it’s time to stretch. Another good reason to grow would be that the company’s existing resources aren’t being used effectively. Perhaps that leads to developing an internal exploratory environment complemented by alliances-based activity that brings access to new technology and new people.
Less rationally, when business leaders feel pressure from their investors to grow for growth’s sake, they may seek results at any cost, which can result in aggressive and often expensive acquisitions. The idea is that acquisition is going to be a convenient shortcut. In fact, it’s not. We know that 70% of acquisitions fail. Post-purchase integration is a nightmare. The acquisition is very often the most disruptive, costly, and painful option.
If you want to choose the path to growth smartly, you first need to shape the decision-making context in such a way that you have a diversity of opinion. There has to be enough diversity either within the board or the top management to have expertise in each type of growth.
“I learned as the Founder that what we might think is the worst thing that ever happened to us at that moment, might actually turn out to be the best thing that ever happened. I can recount a number of the instances when I thought the world was ending to only laugh about it several years later and thank my lucky stars that that’s how things turned out.
About two years ago, I was running my company smoothly and successfully. Things were going with ease, in fact, that I decided I could dedicate less time to running my company and instead spend more time working on a new startup for which I was really excited. I started spending more time on the new startup, as it was new and interesting. Most of all, it was fun working on a new venture. But learnt a big lesson that one needs to continually and relentlessly pursue what we originally started and that no organization runs automatically,” remembers Thomas.
A Journey to Pinnacle in the words of Dr Thomas
With a military background, entering the corporate area was a big change. But small tenets picked up along the way in life helped shape the organization to where it is now. A few being:-
- When you give back to others, even in a small way, life gives back to you. Regardless of where you currently are in life, we each need to make a list of how we might want to contribute to the planet in some way.
- Treat people with respect and they’ll return the favor to your company
- It’s important for a company to be a family: that people feel as if they’re part of the company and the company is like a family to them’.
Comfortability is the worst friend for a successful business to have, so steer clear from it and try to put some effort into every task we do and every objective we pursue. If we are able to make each day of work exciting and thrilling, then there will be no one to hold us back. - We won’t be able to survive if people don’t trust us’.
We just kept a faith in ourselves and the very ethos of TechnoPilot® and results just happened along the way.
The words of Wisdom
We have used ‘Change Management’ towards promoting our initiatives and services.
The employee does not have a responsibility to manage change – the employee’s responsibility is no other than to do their best, which is different for every person and depends on a wide variety of factors (health, maturity, stability, experience, personality, motivation, etc). Responsibility for managing change is with management and executives of the organisation – they must manage the change in a way that employees can cope with it. The manager has a responsibility to facilitate and enable change, and all that is implied within that statement, especially to understand the situation from an objective standpoint (to ‘step back’, and be non-judgemental), and then to help people understand reasons, aims, and ways of responding positively according to employees’ own situations and capabilities. Increasingly the manager’s role is to interpret, communicate and enable – not to instruct and impose, which nobody really responds to well.
Our mantra: Logic + emotion = Gets successful changes
Any large-scale change within an organization must be led by a team that has the following characteristics:
- Credibility and authority to lead the effort
- The connections to find “change champions” who can be trusted to spread the news of the benefits of change throughout the organization
- Ability to achieve “early wins” to keep the momentum building until it reaches a crescendo. We believe that the higher in the organization the leader of the change process, the better chance the effort has of succeeding. If the owners of the change process are buried in the middle management, this signals that the change itself is not highly valued, reducing the chances of it succeeding.
We believe that ‘Everyone is a Change Agent’. Vision should not be the sole responsibility of leadership, and neither should change. People want to be in control of their work, so when you empower them to shape change, they’re much more likely to join your efforts. Leaders can, and should, set the direction and place the big bets. But we need to think differently about what mid-level people can accomplish and how they can be visionaries and problem-solvers in their own right. Innovation thrives at companies where leaders lead, managers have the freedom to think and experiment, and everyone is expected to help take the business to new places.
We also believe in opening two-way communication channels to garner ideologies, towards promoting our services using niche technology mediums in vogue today.
Road Ahead
The company has been observing of the opportunities in both the consumer and enterprise segment. They have been focusing on strengthening the channel ecosystem and increasing the brand’s presence across, in tier 2 and tier 3 cities. “By 2020 we would like to be present in all channels of distribution in order to reach out to potential customers and provide flexibility in licensing by partnering with Managed Service Providers,” announces Dr Thomas.
The company has high dreams that in the next five years there will be no more operating systems to compromise. Operating systems would have gone away and every laptop on the market would be running an emulator that functions as a start-up program on the embedded firmware. Nothing can ever be infected anymore because a few key vendors would have got together to actually use the trusted modules inside technology.
According to Dr Thomas, “With more and more people and organizations getting to know about us and what we do, we strive hard to make the world a better place to reside and grow in, not only for us but for the generations to come.”
